Susan posted the most beautiful songs. I thought of this song from many years back as being one of the sadder songs I had ever heard. I was going through a separation at the time and missed my wife terribly. I remember standing in the middle of the room with this song blasting and I was crying my eyes out.

Memories.
This is a sad song for me, I lost the love of my life years back and I listened to this song and cried every day for months. It took me three years to get over him.... I'm still not over him 100%...... It's not the words as much as the melody that is sad to me.

This song is a tear jerker for my husband. It reminds him of his brother, he died when he was 15 in a motorcycle accident.

Does anyone know the move with Tom Hanks and he is in a plane crash and then he is stranded on a deserted island? Then he is finally rescued years latter and goes back to find the love of his life married with children. Thats a really sad situation.
But then she leaves her new life to go back to him, that was beautiful.

Tony Bennett's "The Good Life" has taken on a new personal meaning for me lately...
"It's the good life to be free and explore the unknown
Like the heartaches when you learn you must face them alone
Please remember, I still want you
And in case you wonder why
Well, just wake up...kiss the good life good-bye."
(Rest assured I am still very happily married, but the end of a long-term career can be like a death in the family, too.)
And I cannot listen to Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle" without crying, because that's what life was like between my dad and me...and it was extremely popular at the time my father died in 1982.
