    Yeah the biggest drawback to these is the adjustability. I have to test fit as I fab and hope my setup does not change to much latter on. If it does I'll have to cut the tube out then bend and cut a new one to the desired shape and length and weld it in.

    I made two new clamps. One for my fire extinguisher bell and one for a stick holder I made a while back. Both of them already had clamps but, the bell clamp was time consuming and the stick holder clap was such a pain I was just leaving it on all the time so it got in the way during transport.

    this is the main body of the clamp before welding the relief cuts.

    Welded and cleaned up a bit

    Drilled and taped for tightening screws, mounting hardware welded in place

    Old vs new stick clamp

    And finally mounted to my hi-hat stand

    I plan on putting some kind of cushion between the contact points of the clamps and stand I just have not gotten to it yet.

    Well as far as my drums go when I was starting out I really wanted a cowbell for some reason but I couldn't afford one so I grabbed a tea kettle my mom never used from the cupboard and mounted it, it was so thin I put a stick through it in a week but I was also a much heavier hitter back then.

    This might be slightly off topic, but more recently(last week) I pulled my headlight switch out of the dash on my Ford Ranger. I had broken the bezel that screws the switch into the dash and I had to pull a fuse to shut off my lights. That bezel is a hard part to find, but as I found out if you sand down a cymbal sleeve it screws in just fine!

    Thanks.
    The Gajate looks doable. I don't know what kind of tools you have, but for me the hardest parts are the adjustable bits (in this case the mounting rod and spikes). Depending weather the pedal you are using has it's own spikes or not you may be able to do away with the spikes on the Gajate.

    Turned an old tom into a stick hold to match. Cut out a circle wood piece for the bottom and bolted it to an old stand. Stand still functions if you wanted to put the top arm on.

    Peeled the wrap and stained it maple like my kit. Sits in the back.

    Nice. I think I might have seen a similar idea at a music store, once, to display new sticks. Or maybe I just dreamed it. Looks like you could use some new sticks ?

    Very clever. Found object percussion can be fun. But it takes some patience and persistence to find things that make a sound you really want. I have been known to wander around garage sales and rummage sales with a drumstick in my hand !

    I have some "heavy metal" here, bottom to top:

    an LP Ice bell;

    an aluminum lid for a cooking pot;

    some sort of L-shaped bracket that some carpenters left behind when they were doing renovation at the office where I work.

    Since the topic is hardware, note the modular linking system. I can easily re-arrange sequence however I choose, and/or insert other percussive objects into the chain.

    Love those lamps !!! I think they'd look great in a restaurant that features live jazz. You should go into the interior decorating racket !~

    Here's my mounting of a cowbell on a tube on a 14" Pearl FT using a splash cymbal clamp.
    The FT was a rack tom so I used its mount bracket to hold the old, cut, mounting tube.

    Love the DIY project - but also curious about what looks like black tape on your drum heads? Is that for muffling the drums??

    Those lamps are a great idea. I wonder what it would look like if you made a kit that shoots bright light up from the toms like that onstage?

    thanks for the compliments on the lamps. it started out as a project to test out doing a wrap, so i picked up a cheap drum and wrapped it but since it wasnt going ti match my set i thought id convert it. my friend was having an exhibit on some of her paintings and wanted to use it to illuminate her paintings and when the gallery owner saw it she asked me to make more to keep as a permanent fixture.as a drummer i thought it was cool looking but never expected non drummers to be as excited about them , but people has seemed to really like them and its a fun thing to do with beat up old drums .

    Yes, it’s for muffling, but I’ve just gone through this thread for the first time and I believe you asked this same question (and had it answered, and acknowledged that answer) earlier in this thread sometime last year?
