Unfortunately, the wraps may look the best with the white hardware.................if you do stain it, I would recommend as light as possible
Hello folks.
I am looking for an opinion here. I want to refinish my set. I am planning on removing the white wraps and sanding and staining the Alder wood shells a deep Mahogany color. But the problem is the hardware is white as well. What color stain do you think would look good with white hardware?
Thanks for your time in advance.

I agree. I really can't think of anything that would go good with white hardware.

So the scheme was white on white? Like you were playing ghost drums? Don't worry about the shell color, the white hardware will contrast with any color that's not light just as chrome does. Deep mahogany shouldn't pose a problem. Now black hardware...just the opposite's true.

True. Come to think of it, I would be tempted to do a flat or satin black with red accents for some type of a vintage Hot Rod (or Rat Rod) look.

Any dark-color stain would look pretty good. I think about the ONLY thing that wouldn't look that great would be a light, natural wood finish. I think it would remind me too much of a Payday candy bar or one of these:
