Default Roland TD-1K - any user reviews yet?

I am thinking of getting the new TD-1K for practicing in my TINY room in a boarding house... I used to have the Roland TD-11 series and it was great, but still too noisy (my housemate would complain, so I sold it) and now I am in an even more shared housing situation, so I was wondering if anyone had it yet, or had a good play on it, and could compare it to the better Roland kits, but just for daily practice to keep my chops up... I am especially looking at the feel/noise level of the pads/cymbals and also the sensitivity and response of the pedals

    Thanks!

    cheers,
    Dan

Welcome to drumchat, Danonearth! Are you in an upstairs or downstairs room? Are the walls thin?

The lower-end Roland HD-1 and HD-3 are similar so go and read reviews on those. The TD-1K is supposed to have better pedal design making them smoother.
I have a HD-1 and the foot pedals are not an issue as far as noise is concerned. The loudest part/s are the rubber tom, and cymbal pads, which aren't that loud at all.

The TD-1K is a very nice piece of hardware for the price and in terms of what you get for your money.

I tried the HD3, but it has the "new cloth-head toms" which seemed a bit different to me... I was wondering if the TD-1K would have them as well?

I agree, it seems like a lot of bang for buck - as well as upgradable... I could get a real kick pad for a pedal later if I want to (Russ - I am in a boarding house basically with such thin walls everyone can hear everything anyone says/does... I think the older harder rubber pads on the TD-11 I used to have would even be too loud, which is why I was thinking of the newer 'quieter' pads on the TD-1K since I can't afford all mesh heads)

    Thanks!

Thanks I was actually also wondering if the Yamaha heads might be quieter (and cheaper) than Roland... I tried one of their more expensive models with the white soft heads all around, and it was pretty quiet and quite a bit cheaper than the roland mesh head kits

    Thanks!
    No they don't.

The TD-1K would be the best for your situation, I'm certain of that. All the best with your decision.
