My daughter learned a basic beat at age 6 or 7 then quit and has no interest...not yet anyways.
My 3 and 5 year old sons may want to learn to play. I'm going to wait until we get a music room built before I go down that path.
Counting myself there are 4 other drummers in my family, son, niece, nephew,
and my 7 year old grand daughter who is just starting out .

The Rudiments
Nope. Virtually anyone who plays in my family is a piano player. No one can fathom where my drumming drive comes from.

My younger brother plays just about every instrument there is. The band he was in, they would all change instruments depending on the song. As far as drumming goes, he wasn't half bad. Heck of a guitar and piano player though.
Well, piano is still a percussion instrument at least.
For me, my older brother played, and I inherited his kit when I was 12. He has that kit back now and still plays just a little bit. My nephew picked it up at age 17 and is now 28 and quite good. Really light/sensitive touch to his playing.
And,
Coincidence/fate has provided all three of us with Sonor drums. I wonder if we could get a free tee shirt or something?

My wife played the drums in high school. She was the first female to make it in the drumline (snare) back in 1986 and received The John Philip Sousa Award which is an optional award a high school band director may award to one of his or her students (one per year) in recognition of superior musicianship, dependability, loyalty, and cooperation.
For someone who spent hours practicing her rudiments, my wife is my toughest critic when it comes down to my stick height and smoothness in my singles and doubles but she admits that I'm a better drummer than her. We don't jam together and I think she hung up her sticks a long time ago but nonetheless she supports me by allowing me to gig and is very cool about time spent away from home for band practice.

I have a 33 year old nephew who plays drums in a local metal band. His younger brother also plays, but has not been in a band in years, he is 29.
My one older brother is a great guitarist.
No other musicians are in our family that I know of.

My son plays in the school band, and in drum line.
He's playing the trips this year...but I've no pictures yet. He's doing well.
My daughter has begun playing snare drum. She started taking lessons at school a few weeks ago. She's doing pretty good.

Nope.
Although my mom says she played some bongos really well at a party once, and that's where I get it from. I'm doubtful of this.
No.................thank goodness.

My eldest son used to play when he lived with me, but since moving in with his girlfriend he hasn't got room for a kit so only plays on the odd occasion he comes to visit! His playing is very much styled on one of his friends (Ben Carter from Evile) so he's pretty raucous!
My grandchildren (from my other 2 children) also love to play on the little set I got for them, so hopefully they'll continue, with a little nudge in the right direction from me!
EDIT: I just remembered that my Dad played a marching snare drum in the RAF when he served in the 50's. He also played Euphonium, which he still does in a local brass band (he's just turned 78).

Rich, that's pretty cool..............but I'm glad my better half doesn't play.........................she'd nitpick me to death.
One of my sons played regularly for about a year and a half, but has tapered off and doesn't play much at all right now......................hopefully he'll come back around.
Here is a pic of him when he was eight, having fun on the DW kit.
Hi,
other instruments yes, but there is no one else who drums in my family, so I am a mystery! or a throwback from years ago.
