    Default Proud Dad!

Just wanted to share this with the forum. Today is a great day! My oldest son Andrew received his promotion to Petty Officer 1st Class. He serves on a U.S Navy fast attack nuclear submarine, USS Springfield (SSN-761). Home port is Groton Conn. A few more months out with the sub and he'll return to his first land based assignment at Camp Thurmond (aka Camp David) to serve on the presidential unit as an IT specialist.

    "Way to Go Son!"

Thanks Mark! Andrew asked if he could get signed up for the early enlistment program for the Navy when he was a senior in high school. I was proud then and I'm speechless now. He had his setbacks rather early in the Navy when he got dropped from the nuclear program but bounced right back and excelled in the area of conventional submarine training. As a seasoned navigator, Andrew received a Navy commendation letter from the Secretary of the Navy for navigating over 32,000 nautical miles on his last deployment in the Persian Gulf.

Thanks Mark! I'll pass along your thanks. BTW, Andrew's middle name is Mark. I knew of a good one and gave him Mark as a middle name.

Hey that's awesome! I wasn't aware your son was in the service! Any day you get a promotion is a good day lol. I believe I've earned as many stripes as I can before I hit 20, with only a couple years left, there's not much time to climb that ladder anymore than I already have lol. Congrats to your son!
