Cool bongobro's (After-) Christmas poem 2014!

It's been a while since I've done this--and frankly, there are a lot of new DrumChatters around...but it's time to restart a tradition dating back nearly a decade!

    Enjoy!

    BONGOBRO'S (AFTER-)CHRISTMAS POEM 2014

    'Twas two nights after Christmas
    And out at DrumChat
    Drummers were wonderin'
    "Where's bongobro at?"

    The doors were all open,
    Or maybe ajar,
    In the hope he'd return,
    Their hand-drumming star...

    Drumbledore wondered
    Where his mate disappeared
"Was he blown away in a twister?"
    He feared.

    But our friend markadiddle,
    Out in "Sack-of-tomatoes,"
    Said no, he'd not heard
    Of any tornadoes!

    "I'd ask pastor_bob
    But he's missing, too
    I've not heard from him
    In a fortnight or two."

    Kay-Gee chimed in
    With much consternation
    "It's just like he's vanished
    From the vast drummers' nation!"

    Then bish chimed in quickly,
    "Don't get into a spin!
    He posts in "Off Topic"
    To tell me "I WIN!"

    "He adds his weird wit
    In three or five words
    But now, little else--
    It's really absurd!"

    When out at the doorway
    There came a huge crash
    Of bongos and congas,
    Of hi-hats and splash--

    Of djembes and cajons,
    Claves and guiro,
    Could it possibly be
    The return of our hero?

    "Hello?" came a voice
    From long, long ago--
    They knew in an instant
    That it was the 'bro!

    "Is the fire-enjin' runnin'?
    Is there any more bacon?
    Where's Paula Duncan?
    And what all is shakin'?

    "I know it's been long
Since I've last made a post
    And it's something about which
    I really can't boast

    "But I can assure you
    I'd like to restart
    My drummin' and bummin'
    --You're all still a part

Of my life..." And he paused.
    "A few things have changed,
    And in some instances
    It's all rearranged--

    "I've gotta start somewhere
    ...A few things I'm owin'...
    But now is the time
    To keep the beat goin'!'

    And the 'bro then exclaimed
    As he finished his post,
    "Happy New Year, drumchatters!
    You all are the most!"
keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!

I was of course imagining bongos in the background, punctuating each phrase...

Good poem. It would be cool to recite while playing bongo drums beatnik style.

No wonder you been gone so long.

Took a while to write the poem?

Truth is, back in my radio daze, I wrote a poetic commercial for which I played my own accompaniment on bongos...wish I had saved it!

Never thought you'd see "Sack-of-tomatoes" worked into a poem, did you? I've always had fun makin' goofy rhymes...I must be remotely related to Charles Osgood, only I play bongos instead of banjos....

    Thanks, everyone...
