    Thank you!

Well I got home on Friday from my trip to purchase the remote hi-hat.
I was hoping to beat the wife home since she works later shifts than I do.
She ended up getting out of work early and didn't tell me to surprise me.
So when I got home I got caught with new drum parts lol

Luckily she's understanding and loves me. And when I showed her the price she felt better.

Really got me thinking about sparkle wrap. Now I'm waffling between Silver and the Orange for when and if I get around to re doing my old Ludwig 8x26 bass. Now I have to find a pic of
an Orange sparkle drum Ludwig drum from that era. I wish to sorta keep it era authentic.

    all the best...

    Yeah, that's never happened.

Worst case is when you instruct seller to ship to work so you'll be there and they still ship to your house the day your wife stays home from work.

Just my luck... I'm on craigslist as always scoping out deals... what do I see. . . a Sparkle Orange drumset pop up for sale less then 2 hours away and a full kit and a decent price hahaha. Oh well

Maybe I could buy it and cut the bass drum in sections and build my own bass drum extenders hahaha. Then the wife would really kill me!

So I bought new heads and I'm FINALLY installing them so I can use my drumlites to their fullest.... so I brought my kit home..

so beautiful and clean... (for a couple of shows then that'll change haha)

So I added a clamp to my Yamaha kit so I could mount the tom...

While I have them home and taking them apart I decided to fix the annoying PDP STM issue. The STM rims are great but they were never curved enough... so they put pressure on the lugs

This makes tuning and removing heads a real pain. So I took every tom apart. Also allowed me to fully clean them. Here's the STM on it's own. I just bent them by hand.

    sits so much better!

here's another look once reinstalled.. no longer touching and you can see how much it smashed the rubber insert..

Here's another tom with the lugs off.. you can see how wide these rims are.. definitely not enough curve!

but I fixed that problem! So glad I did.

But now I had to come up with a creative way of tuning all the toms at the same time without my rack... here's what I came up with! Hung the toms off my other rack with some misc PDP mounts I had lying around from before the rack days.

All done and our next show is this weekend I can't wait!

I’ve had that exact same problem with the mounts putting pressure on the lugs on my PDP. Pretty frustrating trying to tune em like that, but equally frustrating taking the toms apart, bending the mount and putting it back on again...

I laughed out loud at my desk when I saw there was a full x7 orange sparkle kit in Janesville this morning. I couldn't help but think about how long it took you to find a bass drum, and then one pops up right in your backyard.

LMAO! Always seems to happen like that though. As soon as you give up and settle for something else, what you want comes out, close to home. But, too late, you already spent your money on what you settled for.

I'm glad you all know my pains.... and it's a full kit and a decent price as it comes with stands and cymbals etc. Oh well...

I did make a joke about still getting it to use the bassdrum as a gong drum and really build a stupid large kit

That is a cool drum kit.
You have 4 more drums than I use; I have 4 more cymbals than you use.

    A couple of questions................

Why do you prefer coated batter heads on the toms ?

Is the same true for all your toms or just the PDP toms ?

On a couple of the photos, I'm seeing stock clear reso heads...........do you find that those are OK ?
