I use Vic Firth SIH1 Isolation Headphones and they work great. Hear music and drums just fine without having to crank volume to insane levels.
I wear hearing protection while I'm playing but can't when I'm trying to follow along with a song. The head phones i use have to be turned up so loud, so i can hear the music without my drums over powering everything, that by the time I'm done my ears are ringing pretty bad. How do you guys get around this? Am i going to have to drop some big $$ for some headphones? I have tried keeping my ear plugs in and just turning the speakers up so i can hear both but it's bad enough everyone in the house has to hear me play... I don't want them to have to listen to the same song over and over and over.......
Sorry if this is a stupid question!

Hi,
I mic my drums and mix them with the audio source. I think you could do this with 1-2 mics (more better) and an inexpensive mixer. I am using Vic Firth Isolation headphones. This works well for me.

Shure 215 in-ear monitors. They can plug right into your phone.
I use them a few times a week.
I purchased custom made ear filters a few years ago. I'm also the kind of guy that cranks the volume of my stereo, without using headphones, in order to practice on my own.
The rest of the household tolerates it. God bless them!!!
