We just played a 'metal' gig where 80% of the audience were male, over 30, and bikers. We were half way through our set when our vocalist was just doing a bit of chit chat, and we just bumble along with drums and bass, I did a little drum break and one guy in the front really punches another on the arm and shouts 'that's how you play a ******* rim shot!
They all laughed and so did I.
It turned out they were both in another band and the drummer came up to me at the end and said he had enjoyed my playing!
Bridie
Very cool.
See criticism is good. Makes you feel good about yourself and boosts your confidence.
Awesome to hear another drummer give you praise.

hahaha thats awesome lol
We played last night and I watched this guy move around to about 5 different spots until he found himself on the side of the stage and I could tell he was another drummer watching me. So I made sure to throw in some extra drum love cause I always love when I can spot another drummer.
Bridie,
You are a very good drummer so any praise you get doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
Congrats Bridie!
Think of it this way, he's just the one who had the cajones to actually tell you face to face. I'm sure there are many many more who have thought as highly of your skill, but you never heard it.

A tough crowd to impress, bikers are(if you are younger). I'm surprised no "ride" comments were made.

Were you playing your new Mapex kit, Bridie?
And mom is Okay with you playing in biker bars at fourteen?
all the best...
No, there was a house kit but it was an old Mapex Saturn! The worst was the stool , it was an old hairdressers stool and the seat was at an angle, the adjustment was a screwdriver stabbed through the post, Awful !
And kaygee my Mum was there, to be fair there's more trouble at regular bar gigs than any biker stuff, and that was the only f bomb we heard all night
