I have the standard Concept Maples and couldn't be happier with the sound. But, these look fantastic and had no idea these were available. Not that I'd get a set as I'm an out and out classic rocker, typically.
Just wondering if anybody has had the chance to see these in person, or, better yet, had a chance to play a set? The set pictured has a 11X13" unmounted tom, 16X16 floor tom, and 14X22 virgin bass drum. Seems they offer a 10X12" tom, up to a 26" bass drum and up to a 18" floor tom. I've seen them pictured in matt maple and matt walnut with contrasting wood hoops. I like the looks.

I've been contemplating buying a new Concept Maple 4pc (or 3pc). Problem is; I really don't like any of the finish options available. The Trans Cherry is "OK", but I want a satin or more vintage look......
THESE would be PERFECT. I'll have to check them out.

I hadn't seen those yet. The look almost reminds me of a Craviotto kit.
Mmm... Saturns.
Interesting..............14" depth on bass drum.

Look nice actually. For a set up like that though, why not go for Ludwig in the classic Led Zep tradition?
all the best...
I love the looks of that kit. Pdp maple shells have always sounded great. This has to be one of the best values for a wood hoop kit on the market today. Now all it needs is a fiberskin rezo head on the bass drum to give it even more of a vintage look.
What kind of cymbal stands are shown there?
all the best...
It looks nice but not enough information, whats thickness, how many plies, bearing edges, etc etc? they are cutting corners somewhere for that price.

True, but I figure the Led Zep legacy is still going to go another couple of generations. You could play the Ludwigs for 20 years and still sell them for as much and likely more than the original.
For example...An Oyster pearl set of MIJ drums with THE BEATLES on front are not going to command the same attention from me as a potential buyer, as would the Ludwigs. It's just the age old brand name thing.

Yea! Very punchy with a controlled sustain. The trend in the last 15-20 years has been deeper and deeper bass drums. Never saw a 20 x 20 cannon until fairly recently.
14 and 16 inch depths were the norm for decades before. Bonham played a 26 x 14, if memory serves. Again, fat and punchy!
I love these drums. The contrasting hoops are a really nice look.
Proudly playing:
Doc Sweeney Drums
A bunch of snares
A bunch of cymbals
Off-Set double pedals
I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!
Johnny :
I've been playing my Gretsch USA 14X24 since I bought them in 1977, so I've got the history.
I found it interesting because everyone loves the 18X22 these days.
However, I still get compliments on my bass drum sound often...........mostly from the sound-tech guys.

Yep! That's more like it. Funny thing is, now that I bought a set of early 70s Ludwig 3ply shells, that's exactly what they'll look like. Since they were a wrapped finish, the outer ply is dark Mahogany (not maple). I may darken the slightly around the lugs (like a dark fade).....not decided yet.

I would have to hear them 1st, the wood hoops have my interest peeked for sure and they look gorgeous but I have had QA issues with pdp in the past and have heard from a lot of others with QA problems as well. I would love to see and hear one in person. I know for a fact that the Centennials sound incredible, especially live with 3 mic's.

I saw them in Drum! magazine. They look really nice. I am sure their sound is good, too.
