    Default I jumped ship.

Hanging around at the local music shop I played a Piaste 2002 20" ride. Liked it so much I traded in my Zildjian 18" ride/crash to get it. When I got it home, my wife really liked the sound too. So, back to the shop with my other Zildjians (16" med. crash and 13" New Beat hats.) These I traded in towards a 2002 16" crash (nice high pitch, it cuts!) and 2002 Soundedge 15" hats. I'm not saying Piaste is any better than Zildjian. I just happen to really like their bright shimmery sound. Anyone else out there who jumped ship from one brand to another.

Congrats on the new Paiste cymbals!

I didn't exactly jump ship. I am primarily a Sabian guy, but I added an 18" Paiste Full Crash to my set. It has that amazing shimmering sound you spoke of and it was a sound that really complimented my cymbal set up. I have not heard a Sabian, or Zildjian for that matter, that quite has the sound that Paiste does.

Aye whatever sounds good to you no matter who makes the cymbals your ears are what counts.

I like the sound of Paiste cymbals too but I would have kept the Zildjians.

I made the switch from Z to Paiste about 6 months ago. Went to the 2oo2's. Have a 22" ride, 16" & 18" crashes. Very pleased. Get many compliments.

Kept my Z Mastersound HH's and Sabian China.

Sometimes a new sound is a good thing. Not necessarily better just something new to you. I did something similar about 5yrs ago except I jumped from Paiste 2002's including soundedge hats to Zildjian A's and am now in the process of swapping all my A's out for K's. Most of us go through stages I think just to keep things fresh. Congrats!

Years ago when I was first choosing high end cymbals, I wanted to stay all Zildjian, compared lots and picked Zildjian A custom 14" hats, still love them so clean sounding, but crash and ride I had to go with Sabian, 16"AA thin crash,22"HHX Manhattan Jazz ride(such a nice soft buttery ride and beautiful sizzle with an excellent sounding bell) and just recently wanted a second ride and compared so many at the music store brought a few home to hear and returned them and had to go with 20" HH medium ride (beautiful cymbal great definition)
The AAX RBDR was a very close second
20"medium Zildjian or even 21" Zildjian Sweet ride didn't sound as good to me as the HH

Nice story, and I also did the switch from Zildjian to Paiste. Those 2oo2's cut nicely.

I really like the sound of 2002's. I have a 22" ride and an 18" crash, both black label 2002's. Probably my favorite line of cymbals. They work well with my Signature Sound Edge hats.

    Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!

"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham

I don't have any cymbal brand loyalty. I use what my ears and wallet decide. Been that way since I was a kid. I had a Paiste 2002 crash back in the 80's but cracked it. Loved that one.
Recently added a couple of Istanbul crashes for about 1/2 of what Zildjian's would have been. B20's and they sound great.
    Proudly playing:
    Doc Sweeney Drums
    A bunch of snares
    A bunch of cymbals

    Off-Set double pedals

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!
