Default MACASSAR EBONY - One Of A Kind - SONOR

    Hi guys..

been wanting this gem and finally had a chance to snag it at a fairly cheap price.
Sonor One Of A Kind 14x6,5 - Macassar Ebony finish. Beech 8mm shell. oversized cast hoops (!!), dual glide strainer system.
Have not tried playing it, gonna do that this weekend.
The quality is top notch..every single component is made to perfection. Came with a cool "welcome pack" and special hardcase.
    Here are the pics!

Michael...WOW!!!! What a snare! Tone report required.

What spectacular packaging, in addition to the gorgeous drum itself! I can only imagine what an entire Sonor SQ2 kit in that wood would run!

I've always wondered what people do when they take pictures of their very expensive instruments and put them on concrete/asphalt/snow, etc. The pictures are almost always amazing, the contrast between the beautiful instruments and the harsh elements. I'd like to think that there are tiny bits of cushioning of some sort that just aren't seen in the pictures...

I know it appears to be a hazardous way to treat an expensive piece of equipment, but simply sitting something on concrete, rocks, whatever, will not cause harm unless the priceless object is dropped, or slid across, said surfaces. It's not the contact that causes harm, it's the abrasion. You can be sure that this drum was not harmed in any way in the making of these photos.

Thanks heaps guys and thanks also for the thoughts and suggestion I really appreciate it.

I have been using this 'concrete stand' for quite a few years, and yes, there has been no single component ever damaged, as I put the babies very gently and do not move them around except for vertical/horizontal pose. Its me who move around to get the pic from different angles. Surprisingly, this is the single first thread that I got commented on this concrete :D Thanks again for the thoughts!

Did you get in touch with Sonor to be able to get #1 of 80? and do the oversized hoops make it hard to fit in the basket?

Does no one see past the bling and notice the oxymoron here. "One of a Kind"and right below," 1 of 80? "

I'm sure that's the first thought that entered into everybody's mind. Maybe the intention is that this is "one" of a "kind" of drum? Nah. It's just pure, brazen, hyperbolic marketing. And I love it. I'll agree to "wink, wink, nod, nod" on this one simply because it's such a lovely piece of engineering art. And we all have the pleasure to see pictures of "one" of that "kind" of drum!
