    Default 13X7 Walnut

I have dogging on my latest batch of builds, finally got one of the twin Walnut shells done. It sounds so much better than I had expected, not that I build crummy sounding drums, but this one is really nice. The playing feel is rich, lots of sensitivity, and a nice after crack tone from the shell. I did sharp dual 45's top and bottom, steam bent re-rings which are I inlayed into the shell for a flush interior. The walnut is one of the last of a batch of Walnut that was milled around 1977. I bought the lot from an older retired carpenter, nice score.

Thought I posted this one but I don't see it.

Beautiful finish work. Nice job. If only there was a 14x22, 16x16 and 9x13 to match them!

That walnut snare matches that kit you made doesn’t it? Was that the intention?

Same design as my stave kit, burl inlay is fatter, kit is mahogany but the two woods are similar. I bought a pile of this burl veneer, I think I have 10 sheets two feet square each, so I gotta use it up. Looks so nice too, so I like using it up.

Looking great. That bird's-eye in the back doesn't look too bad either.

How did you attach the wooden bearing rings to the carbon fiber shell?
