some good video of Dave here. Always thought his kit looked pretty cool. The way his stands and cymbals were set up was pretty unique

You know I'm just playing with ya about Dave, he's good,Just I feel that he didn't bring to Priest what Ian Paice brought to Purple or what Clive Bur and Nicko brought to Maiden.
But no I love me some priest.Ripper,Electric Eye,and this one.

EDIT: let's not get confused here - I would be lying if I said I'm not at least a little envious of the fact that he IS a famous drummer, making a living doing what he loves. I can only dream of that one day. I do have respect for him for that alone. But purely in the sense of metal drumming, he is really overrated.
Joey Jordison is a bloody good drummer. But I agree on him being overrated - people make him out to be one of the most technically skilled drummers, which he certainly isn't.

I hear ya. Good stuff. I like all the forms Priest turned into. When they had Ripper Owens on vocals that was pretty good too and of course Scott Travis took the songs to a higher level than Holland ever did.

    my amazing opinions are:

I generally agree with what people have said here, HOWEVER, I don't think Meg White is overrated because i have never heard anyone call her a good drummer. [deleted. We're not about that here. Please keep it family friendly. Thx. - Tom]

I have seen Grohl on top 20 lists of best drummers ever, I dont think he is. However, I wouldn't call him overrated if we ignore this fact, because he is a good drummer (just not top 20 all time). I find the Foo Fighters' music kinda boring and lacking, but that's my opinion. However, I do think that Grohl has a great perspective on music and I would make him president of the Rock n Roll university.

I think the Rolling Stones are very overrated as a band. It's good music, but not at all original...

I don't know if I'd call any drummer or other musician "overrated". Back when the Beatles were together, I heard lots and lots of people bash Ringo. Fast forward to the 2000s when I discovered internet fora. By and since this time, Ringo has garnered a great deal of respect. There is a website with thirteen things that Ringo added to drumming. He gets prominent mention in Daniel Glass's DVD about the history of drumming. So beware, the drummer you call overrated today is one who you may gain respect for down the road.

I agree...Joey Jordison is VERY overrated. Fast, sure. I certainly can't play like him. But his playing does nothing for me.

These types of threads never seem to go well. I've already had to delete a few nasty comments. Sorry folks but we're not about that here. I'm closing the thread. Let's build people up, not tear them down.
