Just saw some pictures of Bar A in Belmar. Sure looks a lot different now than it did in the '80's.
Used to play at Aljo's in Runameade, Rianbow lounge, Penalty Box and Diamond Beach in Wildwood and Dirty Marthas in Sea Isle none of them exist any more.

Very true...............and I loved it.
During the time period, 1973 - 1978, the Dallas clubs were so great.
Guaranteed crowds no matter where you played -- live music was simply what everyone wanted to do every weekend.
The clubs would hire your band for a six-night week and paid us in cash.
I was fortunate to be playing in a band that had draw and was desirable by the clubs in town.
We were the traditional 5-pc. band:
Bass, Drums, Guitar, Keys and Lead Vox that could play some guitar as well.
Anyone here remember any of these famous Dallas joints from the 70s ?

I lived in Dallas in '82. Ridgecrest Road, about 5 minutes from North Park Mall.
Mother Blues sounds familiar, but the rest don't. Bar Z was always crowded, spent most of the nights pushing people out of the way.
I would work on my pool game at Shooters, and my bowling game at Don Carter lanes.
I loved Dallas. I considered moving there, but, I was stationed in NC before I hit the flip, and had a soft spot for it. Plus 2 of my daughters are here and 1 is in Virginia Beach.
We play theaters and venues primarily - not bars/clubs, etc. Our set lasts anywhere from 45min-1.5 hrs - depending on how many bands we're playing with that evening. I'm amazed at you guys who can play for 2-3-4 hours! That's awesome. We don't have enough original material to fill 3 hrs
Mother Blues was (by far) the most well-known club in Dallas because it used to be the only venue listed in Rolling Stone and Billboard............which means, when the touring acts were in Dallas [and in the 70s, they all had gigs there], they would tend to hit Mother Blues after their big-arena gig...........and sometimes would even sit in with the local bands. I actually saw Blackmore sit in one night and put on one hell of a show.
I played a number of gigs there; the "headliner" would get the 9pm to 2am slot, like every other club in town.............but MB also hired late-night bands from 2am until 5am..........I only had that slot one time, thank the Lord.
However, every time my band had the MB gig, we never did get a big-name to come in to sit in and play.
