Default First Concert - Was there a drum solo?

I saw this thread somewhere else and thought it was kind of a cool topic.

What was the first real concert you attended? What do you remember about it(Highlights? Lowlights??) Was there a drum solo and who was the drummer?

First concert I ever attended in my life was Led Zeppelin back on January 18, 1975. Mr. John Henry Bonham performed Moby D_ick. I was blown away. From what I remember of this concert, they had some technical difficulties and Robert Plant was a little rusty singing. Also if memory serves me correctly, Jimmy Page had broken his pinky finger and had to change up his playing.

All in all, for a first concert, I was in heaven because LZ was my favorite group.

My 1st U.S. concert was back in '78, Aerosmith at the Cow Palace. No drum solo. Wet Willie was the warm up act. They got booed off stage.

The band that had the hit "Keep on Smilin'"? I guess how I could see that happening. They did a lot of weird pairings of bands back in the day.

When I was probably 6 or 7, I saw Buddy Rich live on the New Haven Green, CT - one summer night. He indeed had multiple solos.

The first rock show I went to was Bonham - Jason Bonham's band from the 80's. I was in 6th grade and saw them at Toad's Place in New Haven. I honestly don't remember if he had a solo...I imagine he did.

I went to a lot of country/western concerts growing up. And, uh, no...never a drum solo.

I remember some local bands that I saw at dances. Drum solos were common! Not every band featured a drum solo, but about one out of every two bands did. I remember looking in awe as the drummer played the solo. It sounded so good. I was having so much fun then.

Mountain at the Capitol Theater in Passaic, N.J. Around 1973. The drummer was Corky Laing and he did indeed play a solo.

No drum solo, but my first concert was a regional band named "The Unbelievable Uglies" out of Minnesota.
The bass player (Winston Fink) dressed up like Caesar, and played a bass solo on an electrified set of bed springs. It was crazy.

Depending which year you saw them.
Danny Seraphine was their drummer till 1990 and he was an amazing drummer and one of my favourite drummer.
Tris Imboden took over in 1991 till now. I haven't seen Chicago lately to comment on his drumming.

Funny you mention this. Sort of makes me chuckle now with these "new country" acts when you see the drummer with double kick drums, 10 pies, etc. They need that? Even if it's "new country" which isn't even country at all........they don't need all those drums and pies.

New country = Rock and Roll, Rap, all with a little twang. Hank Williams is probably rolling over in his grave.
