I have had single and double pedals since I was about 8, I just liked the challenge of playing them, and as my playing developed I used the doubles most of the time.
My main foot plate once snapped the song before Hot for Teacher, so I had to play that, with my left foot on the slave, now, that was a challenge, but I think I managed to pull it off. If I had had just a single pedal that night, would have been in trouble!

So are there players who are leveraging double-pedals for all of the potential they may offer ? I mean, something besides the oft-heard 'thunder rolls' ? Syncopated patterns, perhaps ? Or playing right foot, and using left foot for re-enforcement on the 1 ?
Using 2 different types of beaters for 2 different bass drum sounds ? Or rather than abandoning the hi hat pedal, work it into a 3-pedal pattern ?
