Default Tee Drums Bubinga/Birch snare shell??

Have just ordered one of these for my 8" Pearl Free Floating snare drum which currently has a maple shell which I am not too chuffed with.
Anyone out there have any experience of these shells? I spoke to Alan at Tee Drums who's a lovely bloke & he said it will fulfil my needs.
Looking forward to it arriving in a couple of weeks or so

HAHAHA sorry I just love that you said bloke!
I only hear that in movies here

So you bought a 8" deep snare I assume.. not 8" wide?
    Is it a 14" wide?
I bet it will sound so thick and rich!

Do you know how many ply it is? I have a couple maple snares. All sound different depending on how many ply it is.

Oh, I have no idea I'm afraid. Only sounds nice when cranked up. I also have the Brass 8" Free floater which is amazing but I only use this for the heavier music I play. Maple is quite soft & it does tend to ring quite a lot. The Bubinga/Birch is a lot harder so should make for a more controlled sound???

I use a Pearl MCX 6.5 x 14 7ply Maple and love it. So I am sure you will love your 8x14 FF.

Thinking about Alan doing an entire shell pack for me. Maple shells with Bubinga outer ply, 24", 13", 16", and snare. I can do the rest. That is one gorgeous shell. Good luck with it.

New Tee Drums Bubinga/Birch Shell for my Pearl 8" Deep Free Floater. looks lovely. Nice matte finish as I didn't want the gloss. Shell is a lot thinner than the Pearl Maple shell. Fitted with a new Evans Level 360 reverse dot batter. Looking forward to giving it a bash tomorrow

    Few pics

I have two of these. The other is a brass shell. Yes, they are very loud snares (Brass more so). Very versatile also. There isn't a gap at the bottom. The shell sits snugly into an aluminium cradle.

    Mike
The shell fits directly onto the bottom cradle which has no bearing edge but is flat & has a felt gasket. The shell "Floats" in this cradle as nothing else touches it apart from the batter head. It is like an exo-skeleton for want of a better phrase.
