13X7 Walnut snare

Been dormant since last winter as far as building drums. This shell was actually put together last fall and I finally put it together today. I still have plans to install some satin brushed hoops and deal with making the chrome throw off match the satin finish on the lug posts.
But it has taken so long, I just wanted to get it up and running.
13X7 Walnut stave, steam bent walnut re-rings, olive ash burl inlay to accent the finish.







This Birdseye 13X7 is next up. It will be getting all black hardware.

I also started on this hollowed log maple shell. One piece true solid.



My neighbour gave me this Load of Walnut. Waiting on some new bandsaw blades so I can get it sliced and dried.
I did cut up a couple pieces, the heartwood is stunning and hopefully becomes drums in the near future.

I also finished this conversion for gospel drummer Jay Laws. It was a charity budget build turning an old Ludwig Rocker power tom into a floor snare. Sounds pretty good considering.
