If you separate the glue/epoxy and head from the aluminum rim maybe for the aluminum. Not worth the trouble for the small amount of aluminum material.
Don't know what grade of plastic or mylar types are involved in drum heads.
I know with styrofoam cups and such, they've been recycled into a brown goop for manufacturing and molding eyeglass frames, picture frames...etc.

Custom artzy creative type projects come to mind though as mentioned above and more.

You had to make a lot of eye contact to sell that 1.

That's like when I bought my Vette, I told my (then) wife that I was just picking up a old Chevy.

My only problem was that sooner or later she was going to see it.

Back when I first started playing I took an old head and cut it up in strips and replaced the stings that held the snare wires on my Ludwig snare . This was back in 1979 ! And I still have one ...for old times sake .
When I was on the road I was playing (gigging) every night and use to go through snare heads like crazy . This was back starting in 1980 . I use to I would cut the head an inch from the rim and then at the hoop . I would put this on the snare then lay the new head on top , kinda like they now do with the Power Stroke heads . It would dampen the head like the rings on top do . That way I wouldn't lose it or have it go flying across the stage like it would sometimes . I use to do the same thing with the kick drum head . This worked best with the thin film from a Pinstripe head .
