Every once in a while my lower back hurts during & after playing. Depends a lot on how much double kick I'm required to use. Motrin & beer seems to help.
I recently started playing again and have a bad back and nondisplaced fracture between my shoulders along with other problems.
Anyone here face similar problems and how to overcome the pain when and after playing? I have meds for pain but trying not to use them to much.

Lower-back stiffness/tightness/pain can most of the time be completely eliminated with a good lower-abdominal strengthening program.
You can rotate between different types of leg/knee raises from various positions (hanging, laying, sitting, incline). You can also add twisting motions to any of the variations.
The main thing is to do some work for the lower abs every couple/few days and be consistent with it.
Also, since doing so can lead to tightness in the hip-flexors, it's important to include specific stretches for them and the groin, hamstrings, glutes, and well everything really lol.
Make sure to contract the lower-abs to the point where your hips actually roll-up with control, not just using momentum to swing.
A good practice is to pause and hold the contraction for a few second at it's peak on some sets just to ensure you're not swinging up and down.
Laying BACKWARDS on a decline bench (head at the higher end of course) and finding a way to hold on to something with your hands, then just raise the straightened/locked legs to the point where the hips lift up. (you can loop a towel through the thing that would normally hold your feet/legs and then just hold onto the towel)
Trust me. I'm 41 and still do deadlift workouts with no stiff back the next day, but without the specific lower-ab work I can't even deadlift at all and still walk the next day/week. It makes that much difference.
Another thing that works wonders is plain old deep body-weight squats and all that yoga-pose hold stuff.
I have scoliosis and somedays it just kills me.
Sounds pretty grueling to me. I can't lift dead weight or I'd fall over. I have a hard time lifting 10 pounds and walking a few feet with it. Back problems have just grown worse over the past few years. I can't move the kit around without pain in the back. I loose balance easy as well.
Some good advice posted and I will try some of it to see if it helps. Would really like to get in better shape sooner or later.

Motrin & beer just seems a bit easier.
Not much of a drinker. Haven't had anything for 14 years since I have to deal with them at work. I repositioned some things that might help make it a little easier on my back and neck area.
The other problem I have are the muscles in my shoulders are very tight and it slows me down. I start physical therapy today but don't see it helping much. Been through it several times with no change.

In all seriousness, the one thing that I have found that really helps is making sure my throne is set high. Keeping my knees bent at greater that 90 degrees seems to take the pressure off of my back. I play heel up.
Yes, I have neck issues:

I went to the doctor today. If the second cervical injection doesn't relieve the pain, I'll have to go under the knife!
I've been dealing with a bad back since being hit with part of a tree back in '69.
For me, a chiropractor and a inversion table does the job.
I should mention that I'm 6' and keep my seat at 27".

I threw my back out before a show a long time ago. It sucked but I made it through. It happened when I was putting my 13" tom in the back seat of my car. Bent over and over reaching did it. Every once in awhile I think about it while loading except it's much easier loading a Pathfinder vs a Firebird
