Those drums are wild looking. I have no idea what they sound like.

I briefly played on a North kit at a jam session back in the '80s and I wasn't impressed. They sounded "tubby" as if I was playing this:

Look at those things! They scream late 70s-early 80s!! I remember them - they were designed for big, boomy power. I love weird, showy instruments like this. I'd love to sit behind that kit at the right venue.

That was the thing when I was a teenager. There were big ads for those and North drums in the drum magazines. They were just as crazy and impressive back then.

My Friend Bill Filek owns the company, I think drummer Chris Slade was partners with him in it. Bill owns Nomad cases and a I believe still has some of these drums but they have not been produced or promoted for quite some time.

They were still being produced in small numbers up until 2014, when one was reviewed online. They may still be going, the website is still up and they were advertising these drums as being available in both carbon fibre and GRP.

The recent drums were VERY expensive, but then they involve a fair bit of work to produce.

My experience of a 70's kit was that they are extremely loud and in your face. We used to call the bass drums elephant shorts.
