That's a nice pad you picked up. Nice work!
I bought a evans drum pad real feel speed. Started working on mysingle paradiddles and i can tell a big difference. Last night i started at 140 bpm and am now at 150 bpm starting with eighth notes and then sixteenth notes. Doing that for 30 to 35 minutes everynight. After a week i will go from 150 bpm to as fast or as high i can go.
Keep drumming
Gregg

That's great...but what do you mean by 140 bpm and eighth notes? Is every stroke one beat so 140/8(1 paradiddle) almost 18 paradiddles a minute? And how do you differentiate 8th notes from 16ths, other than you're playing twice as fast?

So 140 bpm paradiddle 8th notes means 36 paradiddles/minute, or 280 strokes? Is that helpful when playing to an actual song? I mean, what is the best , most desired, fast speed for this rudiment you should be aiming for to be called a good drummer?

FAST!!! lol..
the best part about drums is it is never ending.. you could say any number and you could always push it a BPM or 2.. I like this because there is always something to work on.
I can do about 160/170 BPM 16th notes as my max. and I am not amazing by any means. I see people do 200bpm 16th note paradiddles often. 200 is my goal tempo for now.
you can always work on paradiddle diddles.
inverted paradiddles.
moving the accent to the different notes.

like that. i felt it helped my left hand a bunch
OK let me understand this. I just did a leisurely 66 paradiddles in a minute, which means 528 strokes.
If 1/4 notes then speed = 528 bpm;
if 8ths, then=264 bpm,
if 16ths, then=132 bpm;
if 32nds, then = 66b pm?
Is this how you'd translate this into note values and BPM?

Slingy - you're confusing strikes per minute with BPM.
8th note paradiddles would be twice the speed of quarter note paradiddles, sixteenths at twice the speed of quarters, 32nds twice the speed of 16ths.
i.e. - if you were playing at 80 bpm (in 4/4 time) each quarter note is counted - playing 8th note paradiddles you would be counting 1+2+3+4+ (RLRRLRLL) and performing a paradiddles twice per bar and completing 40 per minute (160 strokes per minute). Playing 16th note paradiddles at 80 bpm 1e+a2e+a3e+a4e+a you would complete a paradiddle once per quarter note (4 paradiddles per bar - 320 strokes per minute - 80 paradiddles a minute) Playing 32nd note paradiddles - one paradiddle completed each 8th note - 640 strokes/160 paradiddles completed per minute.
Or, If you are playing at 80 bpm if you go to 16th notes from 8th note you will double the speed and number of strokes, but will still be playing at 80 BPM.
My head hurts.

I like the idea. Lots of times I practice on a pad.
