Default Gretsch has a new website.

From the look of things Gretsch/DW has pared down their offerings and made some changes to their lines. Renown’s have new rims and it appears you can now order the kit with a snare as standard. Note all the Renown pics show the old cast hoops. The Marquee line is gone and it seems the snare drum offering is somewhat less. Nice to see an updated site for Gretsch.

The marquee never seemed to penetrate the market as well as it could have. It seemed to have little push at all for as good a sounding kit as it was. It had no add-ons available, which also helped seal its demise.

During my tour of the facility in South Carolina last Summer, I was informed that the BROOKLYN series has made a big impact on the time demands associated with the American operations.

I saw plenty of USA Customs orders ready to be shipped as well.

I've read some reviews that didn't hold the Marquee in very high regard....maybe that's the reason for their phase out?

Something else about the new Gretsch site. No mention of Gibraltar hardware. Puzzling ???

That's right...the old site had Gibraltar hardware featured on the kits being displayed. I'm wondering if DW consolidated Gibraltar into their PDP/DW hardware factory or vice versa?

Isn't Gibraltar a Kaman company? I never heard if they were part of the DW acquisition. They were not a Gretsch holding though they had affiliations. The Kaman people also make/made Ovation guitars. I suppose Gretsch drums and DW hardware would be an easy marriage.

    Media news release.....

    January 6, 2015

"Drum Workshop, Inc. and Fender Musical Instruments announced today that they have agreed to a sale of the brands Gretsch, Gibraltar, Kat, Latin Percussion, Toca, and others, including Ovation Guitars, from Fender to Drum Workshop. Distribution of Sabian Cymbals in the United States, which previously was handled by Kaman Music Corporation, is also part of the transaction. In a separate statement, Kaman Music announced that it will continue its distribution business. Kaman is one of the largest distributors with 200 brands and more than 20,000 products on hand."

Now at the bottom of the Gibraltar web site it says " 2016 Drum Workshop, Inc".

That's a great find rritter. Hopefully, this merger of both companies should stop the bickering on which is better, PDP/DW or Gibraltar?
