Default Which DW drums finish is this?

    Hello guys,

I need some help figuring out what the finish of this drumset is called.
It's a DW collector series drumset with presumably an exotic finish (with a natural to Candy Black fade).

    Sincerely,
    Lars

Could be a mahogany heartwood curly.

All I can say is to go to the DW website and look at their Collectors finishes.

Maybe Natural Fade to Candy Burst?

It looks closest to the Natural to Candy Black Burst but the picture of the drum kit is too small to get a good look at the finish.

Hmm, "fades" to black at the top and bottom with natural in the middle leaves only one choice:Natural to Candy Black Burst.

Looks like the 40th anniversary kit, not sure what that veneer was called though.

The 40th anniversary kits feature special badges. They are in the "timeless timber" line, featured a hard satin finish and came in 10,12,14,16,22 with matching snare. Also they made like 50 or 100. This might be a Tamo Ash exotic but it appears to be a lacquer and does not have the "Timeless Timber/40th Anniversary" badges. Everyone keep guessing.

Can't forget that kit, that aged pewter hardware looks so classy.

Good eye, could just be a regular tamo ash with black burst kit. DW did/does offer Tamo ash.

Thank you for all the replies so far

Hmm, it is a natural to candy black burst over some kind of exotic finish.
Heartwood curly looks like it, but the wood grain is too thin and straight:

I agree that is will most likely be a Tamo Ash finish, but it's not the anniversary kit.
Also, the direction of the wood grain is horizontal and wraps around the drums as to vertical on the anniversary kit...

I did search on the DW website but didn't find that finish.
Is Tamo Ash actually still available as an exotic finish?

Hard to say from that picture, but it looks like a black to natural over something with a quilted grain pattern.
    Mmm... Saturns.

Good catch. The anniversary kit does have the vertical grain orientation verse the horizontal grain in the first post.

My guess is natural to candy over pillow quilted maple.
