IMHO, only reason to change badges on drums is if your intention is to rip people off. Shady at best.

Your correct, DW calls them classic not vintage. They are definitely 7.5 though. I know, I know, the website describes them as 10 mil, but side by side with a Remo Ambassador they are noticeably thinner. To be clear though, we all agree that rebadging is drumming sin.

Classic....................still don't understand Bruce Jenner................and to think I used to look up to him in the 70's...........he was the epitome of a "manly-man". Used to see him every morning on the Wheaties box. Man, was I wrong.

Back to rebadging.....................I see it all the time, when people are trying to sell their stuff...........for example, a listing will read DW, when it is actually a PDP, or Fender, when it is actually a Squire, etc., etc, etc..

IMO, they are trying to find a sucker to buy it, thinking they got a good deal.

Has anyone ever made up a sleeper set? like putting Export badges on a set of Masters?

be careful you're talking about an ex motorcycle cop in L.A.

Open for interpretation. One has to assume the mere presence of the the two letters side by side will stoke some interest?

When I restored my Ludwig Standards (same shells as super classics, just with cheaper hardware in order to compete with chinese-made drums back in the day), the wrap and hardware were pretty rough, and the badges had to come off with the wrap. So when I was restoring them, I decided to switch out the lugs to classic lugs and put keystone badges on there because I liked how they both looked better. Were the drums super-classics when they were made? Nah. Do I call them super-classics now? Nope. But I do really like how they look
    Kits:
    -C&C Player Date 13/16/22
    -65' Ludwig Super Classic 13/16/22

    Snares:
-DW Nickel Over Brass 6.5x14 snare
-Ludwig Black Galaxy Acrolite 5x14 snare
-Ludwig 65' Super Classic 5x14 snare
    -Ludwig 64' Pioneer 5x14 snare
-PDP Classic Wood hoop 6x14 snare

    Rides:
    -Zildjian 22" Constantinople
    -Zildjian 22" Kerope
    -Zildjian 20" Constantinople
    Hats:
-17" A Medium crash over K custom dark crash

    -DW 9000 pedals

Not exactly, but one of the things I love about gigging with my old refurbished Maxwin kit is having guys comment on the sound and looks, and ask if it's a vintage MIJ kit or an old Rogers kit. I enjoy telling them it's just a $30 Taiwan kit made from the cheapest Luan wood available.

Kind of like when people take an old off brand kit and change the wrap or stain it and sell it as a "custom" kit. It's not custom it's a cheap kit with a fancy paint job, just call it what it is. You can put lipstick on a pig but at the end of the day it's still a pig.
