Probably not AAX.
I have a set and they are relatively smooth lathed with little or no hammering.
Maybe an HH or variation of some sorts.
I found these hi-hats online. They look like the heavy AAX series I had way back when. He bought them through an estate sale and says that they are the heavier hi-hats but doesn't know what series. The vid he sent doesn't sound bad but really doesn't do it justice. Can any of you tell by looking at them tell what they might be? I know we're reaching here, but if they are what I think they are, I don't want to let them go.
Let me know if you CAN"T see the pics.

Agreed they look to be HH series.
would you agree that they are NOT the cheaper B8 series or PRO?

Yes, I agree Sundog, that's what I thought as soon as I saw them. They look exactly like the set I bought when they first came out. (Mine were incorporated into my buddy's kit when I went to tech with him).
really appreciate your help guys. Thanks.
