Default Taye Studio Maple... Any fans?

I just recently acquired a Pewter Sparkle wrap Pearl Masters 6pc kit with fairly thick all maple shells. They have a nice booming tone with great projection. I've also always loved thin shells and I've had a thing for Taye maple shells. Today I walked into GC and saw a used Taye Studio Maple kit in Java Burst lacquer finish and it is literally in brand new condition. They also had a 5x14 matching studio maple snare with wood hoops. Those thin shells resonate and sing so well! The tone is so warm and fat. I returned the Pearl Masters kit and went with the Studio Maple, the matching snare and I got some money back. I couldn't be happier. 10x8.5,12x9,14x14, 16x16, 20x16... Pics to come once I fully set them up.

Friend of mine has a Taye Studiomaple kit. I used to have the snare with wood hoops and currently have a steel snare and a brass Metalworks snare by them. Very big fan of the Metalworks snare and the hardware. Excellent bang for the buck and I really like the simple, clean designs. I'm not too keen on the Gullwing bass drum spurs but otherwise I really like them.
A simple, elegant design is good engineering.

I like the Taye studio Maple snares a lot. I have a custom 5x13 I bought for 65 bucks on CL. After I bought it I put some goodies on it and now it sounds awesome! (pics on 'show us your snare drums' thread Pg. 24).

I know nothing about Taye drums, but those sizes sound perfect.
Can't wait to see the finish.
    Proudly playing:
    Doc Sweeney Drums
    A bunch of snares
    A bunch of cymbals

    Off-Set double pedals

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!

Cool where are the pics?? I have always liked the clean look of them but have never heard them in person. I have however heard a Parasonic kit in person and that was very very nice, love to own one someday?

Decide whether this is love for the craft or simply an ego thing

I have an older Taye maple snare and it's nice.

I would LOVE to own one of the new studio maples with wood hoops.
They are so elegant and sexy looking!

I have a Taye 14x7 Studio Maple Snare with wood hoops in the natural finish aka. The Blonde Bombshell. I have a Genera Dry on the batter side. It has a wonderful fat sound to it. However, this is not the kind of snare you want to gig with. Strictly studio or practice.

Reasons? Just worried about ruining it?

Yes! Even though it sounds heavenly, it's just too beautiful to risk damaging. If I remember correctly, I purchased the drum new, and it cost in the $500 dollar range. But it's not about the price; it's about keeping this gorgeous drum pristeen.

I will defintely gig with mine. Most of my gigs have me as the only playing my gear I'd have no issue playing this beauty live... although probably not that often lol
