I have a Tama 1st Chair throne. I love it. Super comfortable and I think it meets your requirements
Friends,
I have recently re-united with my old band, and putting a new set together . I am in need of a top quality throne. I want one that does not wobble AT all, I like a tractor style seat but not gigantic and would also like one that would lock so that it does not rotate. Probably want a vynil not cloth seat. I would be welcome to all suggestions, and thank you in advance for any advice. Price is not as important as function
Sincerely,
Rob

Go with Roc-N-Soc. Your cheeks will thank you.

I think some of those have a fabric seat I need a vynil one. I tried a bunch of hydralics but I dont like the fact that they spin so easy and was surprised at how many name brands wobbled even 1/8" is too much for me. Thanks for all the suggestions! I had one of the original hydraulic seats made by a company called spyder! I will look for a pic. It had a base simillar to the lunar but I am looking for a tripod base, that will not swivel or wobble.
Il probably be bugging you guys for a while, once I am back in the saddle!

Oh yeah, welcome robert
Roc-N-soc and Pork Pie are probably the two most popular. I have a Pork Pie and it is nice, very nice.
Have you got you're ticket for the rock train? You gotta earn that Ticket!!
Premier Genista - Pearl Masters - Primus custom snare - Zildjian A Custom- DW 5000 pedal - Zildjian Zack Starkey sticks
I play lead Drums
Thanks to all. The roc-n soc ones look good but the hardware looks a little sparse. After looking at all the sites I really like the look hardware of the Pearl D-2500 Drum Throne, but seems it has broken on stage on several people.
The Tama HT530 Wide Rider Drum Throne also looks good but owners report the same problem.
I do see a consensus here so far, has anyone tried the DW 9120M Tripod Tractor-Style Seat. I am most concerned about wobble and the abilty to lock it so that it will not swivel.
Thanks again for all your advice!
Rob
The Rocnsoc has proven itself over time. I have 4 and have used them to gig with weekly for many years.
If you go with the hydraulic version it locks to the shaft and will swivel but not without a bit of urging.
They hold up despite any appearance deficiencies you may see.
I should also point out that you can get a Gibraltar tripod and a standard Rocnsoc seat and marry the two together and lock it down so it will not swivel.
I even have one seat on an old Rogers tripod where its original seat wore out and I still had the tripod.
Rocnsoc for the win.

Friends,
I apologise for not taking all of your advice, but I am a hopeless DW fan boy as there factory is 10 minutes from my house and I have a bunch of good friends over there.
I got the 9120 tractor throne. I got it for the heavy duty tripod but the top is bigger than I need. Does anyone know if one of the 5000 or other series would fit on the shaft. I also got a 9120 Al but it swivels much more than I like. I will use it as a spare or for the other band members to sit on!
Is there some threshold you need to reach to post picture in threads?
Thanks to all who responded so far.

Welcome robertgarven, I grew up in Simi Valley and now work there.
To each their own. There's no hard or fast rule saying you have to have a specific throne. After all, you are the one spending your money on it and then have to use it. Might as well get what you want.
As far as posting pictures, you just need to upload them to a hosted site on the net like Flickr and then use their sharing tool to post the pictures on this site. Really quite easy.

It sounds to me like your mind was made up anyway. I was going to add...for the best tractor throne, simply remove a seat from an old tractor and attach it to a tripod of some sort!
all the best...
lets see pics of this new DW throne you got.
Friends,
I bought the DW airlift tractor, great seat but rotated to easily for my taste, and then regular DW9120. They are both nice but the seat is way to big for me and my set is so big I can bearely get in there. I just bought a roc-n-sod regular throne. I read after I hit buy you can not stop it from rotating. I just want a good throne that is stable and will not wobble. I was thinking of getting a DW 500 series but many have reccommended the roc-n-soc. It is OK our new bandroom doesnt have any seating so I am poulating it for the band guys when they want to sit. I want to post some pics but, not allowed to. Is there some threshold you need to reach to post attachments???
Thanks for all who responded!
