Well I have a thread for my PDP kit so thought I'd make an official thread for my Yamaha Maple Custom kit known as the "Maple Monster". When I first built it I was a HUGE Mike Portnoy / Dream Theater fan hence the name.
I decided this weekend I wanted to reset up the kit. It was 2 up and 2 down left and right.. but I wanted to go back to 3 up. The only issue was I wanted the toms flatter like my PDP kit but these toms are so much deeper it just wasn't happening. So tried out a new setup with moving the toms out of order and I must say I actually love it so far!
First remove all the toms
Then moved rack a little bit but started off fresh
How sexy is this?!
Then started adding the toms
That.Is.Wild.
Freaking awesome kit. Thanks for posting all the pics. Looks like a drummer's candy store.

:D
Nice looking set up, I wouldn't want to gig with it but would like to have an hour to muck about on it.
You have some nice cymbals too...
Bridie
I know I'm missing the smallest one ironically. Problem now I've had them so long I'd never be able to find the matching one... but since you brought it up I'll start looking again lol
Well it took me most the weekend it get it setup the way I'm finally happy with it. I played for HOURS yesterday which is the most I've played this kit in forever. . . Now that it's setup the way I like it I plan to play it a lot more. But with the rack and all the memory locks tear down and setup would go a lot more quickly.
I was indeed standing on my throne... scary part is it's a hydraulic roc-n-soc so it does spin freely so when I was getting down it did twist on me a bit hahaha.
Thank you all for the comments and compliments. Food for thought when I was on tour with my old band I did lug most of this with me! Crazy I know!
Yep, that's a lot of drums. Have fun.
Awesome kit. Yamaha maple customs are some of the best drums ever made, especially the yess drums.
Spaz...............
What is the rectangle bronze piece on the right side ?
What effect does it have ?
Gretsch USA & Zildjian(What Else Would I Ever Need ?)
Oh my crazy Tony Verderosa V-Wave by Sabian...
We call it the "Tobogan" cause it looks like the old sled.
I'll get a better picture but this thing is awesome I use it all the time believe it or not. It's like a cross breed between the bell of your ride and an Ice Bell. So when I want a super strong ping bell accent I use this thing. So I always keep it close to my ride.
I'll do a sound clip walk through on youtube so you can hear it. I'll do some of my other ones like the Alien Disc and the Maltese Cross too. Those I don't use much.. but the V-wave I LOVE.
What the snare is the Yamaha with the wood hoops on the rack?
Sweet!!

Found this file that is supposed to be a v-wave recording:
Is this what the V-wave sounds like?
