Hi!
Who are, in your opinion, the grooviest and funkiest drummers. I'm looking specifically for a really simple but extremely groovy and funky players. The ones that make the most basic groove sound irresistable :-)
I'm starting to play some drums (I'm a bassist primarily) and I'm looking for examples.
Videos welcome.

Keith Carlock is one of the greatest groove drummers of our generation. His feel is like none other. And he's got chops too!
Quite some great listening in this thread.
As for drummers, do you have examples of heavy grooving on a simple bare-bone beat. The kind of extremely simple and common beat that sounds really groovy because dynamics, touch and rhythmic placements (like the backbeat behind the beat, light swing in hihat, or a certain "je ne sais quoi") ?
Mario Duplantier from the band "Gojira" This guy takes some real common beats and makes them feel so groovy, he toys with the time to make it sound technical but its so good. Example - https://youtu.be/FNdC_3LR2AI
