Sounds like a good time. Better time if someone was going with you. Enjoy!
Four years ago my nephew with who I shared a birthday passed away at the age of 25. Every year at the beginning of May when our birthday rolls around I deal with depression. I try to do something to take my mind off of it, this year I'm headed to a clinic to cheer myself up.
Mark Schulman is holding a clinic in Champaign, IL. on Sunday. I've caught Mark's clinics before, they are great. Most people don't go to a drum clinic four states away, but I'm not most people.
A friend's band is playing outside of Columbus, OH. tonight, I'm going to stop and catch a set on the way. I've driven to Virginia and upstate New York for clinics before, but I think that this is a new personal distance record to travel for a clinic.
My wife thinks that this is a great idea by the way.

"We don't stop playing because we grow old.
We grow old because we stop playing."
"I wish that my playing reminded people of Steve Gadd. But they seem to confuse me with his little known cousin... E."
"Snare drums happen."

"Too many crappy used drum stuff to list"
Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!
"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham
Geez. I thought something was wrong with you. Around here a clinic is a place where nurses and doctors hang out.
all the best...
I hope you keep your spirits up, buddy.
Safe travels.
I'm 3 hours away if you need anything.

Sorry to hear about your nephew.....................a clinic sounds like a great way to lose yourself in the music.

Just bought tickets to a Pat Patdrillo clinic in Tulsa on May 31. Looking forward to it. If anyone is in the area tickets are still available. Drum World - 918 270 3786
Fighting through a loss of a loved one is hard enough but to share birthdays with kin who has passed away at such a young age is a tough one for me to grasp. Driving for me is a release as is drumming so I totally understand the why and the need to make such a trek. Keep doing what you can to chase those dark clouds away Mike and thanks for sharing such a personal piece of your life.
