I went to play last night and as soon as I sat down I realized that I had no ideas at all. I do try to come up with different things when I know I'm going to make a video but it rarely happens, so I just started playing different beats that I've played over the last 50 years or so.

A couple of them are things that I came up with, 1 of which is from about 1964 for a instrumental that our guitar player wrote, and a couple from the '70's.

Maybe someone will get a idea from them.

This isn't to start a competition with Scotty. I watch his vids and steal what I can and definitely like what he does.

I get ideas from him, maybe he'll get some ideas from some of the tom patterns here.

Fantastic playing Rick. Very cool patterns when you turned the snares off!

Thanks Mike!! The last 1 was the hardest because there were no fills or anything to break it up. It would start with about 15 seconds of drums then into that pattern for 7-9 minutes.

I lost it once and did a 15-20 second solo to get back into it. Our rhythm/lead guitar wrote it and I wanted to come up with a different pattern.

Try it and see if you can do it for 5 minutes.
