There are many jazz-style sticks out there that can feel light. Also, look at maple sticks instead of hickory. It's a less-dense wood that creates a lighter stick.

Pro-Mark Maple MJZ11 "Jazz Café" Wood Tip
    Diameter: .495"
    Length: 15 3/8"

Don't know if you'll find anything much lighter than that

I found 7A's were a bit too light, but the Regal Tip 8A Jeff Porcaro model has been my 'go-to' pair that is the best compromise between a 5A and a 7A....for my hands anyway.

I felt the Vic Firth 7A to be a bit too short so I've been playing the Vic Firth 8D (nylon)

    This.

No name, off-brand sticks also seem to be considerably lighter than Promark/Vic Firth equivalents - the Stagg 7A Maple are pretty light and cost about a third of the price of 'good' sticks. Don't expect them to last long though.

You can get a whole box of them for a few bucks.

I've used 3/8 maple timbale sticks when asked to play light. I didn't have to "pull my strokes" in order to play quietly due to the light weight of the sticks.

A lot of church drummers also use Hot Rods to help keep the volume down.
