    I agree. Somewhere close to the hi-hats & snare. I use a cymbal stacker and put it right above my 14" crash on the LH side of the kit. Also makes it easy to do a double accent with the crash and splash right above each other.

    im finding its not a good spot to have it as the first tom ...am i just used to playing a 10/12 setup?

    It works pretty well in the first tom position. I can't put it to the left, moves the hats out too far. Otherwise I just probably wouldn't use it. My 8" DW has seen extremely minimal use. A rack would make things easier though.

    My smallest tom is 13 inches.

    I've moved mine around a bunch. Currently I have two 8" toms abouve my hats.



    This set up has one mounted off the hat stand and one to the left.

    When I set it up and started playing I couldn't believe how much I really loved it! It makes for some new sound ideas and still easy enough to play in order if needed too. Glad you tried it and it's working for you as well.
