My personal opinion; get a nice hard case/locker/tote and pack your hardware carefully with padding or towels, etc., wrapped around everything. I used to use a $20 plastic trunk from Walmart, lined with a blanket. I used it for a couple years and never had a issue. Then I bought a nice, big Roadrunner gig bag. In only 8 months I've noticed damage to most of my hardware. The bag allows everything to move around inside way to much and is effected by external forces from other equipment (do to lack of rigidity and structure). Granted, I can tip it up and wheel it by myself, but that's when the most damage occurs. It's also hard to pack up and heavier as well. I was much happier with a hard trunk case and someone else to help me carry it.
