    Default Playing drums and relax

Tonight I made some more drum solo video's and noticed that I am not playing relaxed. I am tightening up to much. Need a lot of work on staying relaxed while playing drums. Have been watching video's on how to relax while playing drums. Any advice or video's?

    Keep drumming

Make sure you warm up sufficiently.

Feel the music, play the music, don't just play the drums to the music.

Or, just start each practice session with 2 shots of bourbon. (you're over 21 right?)

Playing relaxed is hard to develop and requires constant reminders to self at first, but also requires good technique development. If all the "right" muscles aren't fully up to the task at hand (endurance and strength), that's when all your other muscles get the urge to tighten up (it's a natural reaction).

This is something I've been working on for the last two years, and I still have a way to go . . . but I'm so much better now than I used to be.
