Default Can I use a trash can as a snare drum stand?

So I know the snare wires need to be on for them to make their sound and I conveniently enough don't have a snare stand but do have a trash can with a diameter that's sized just around the snare, so it can rest on top of it.

Question is, will the small portions of snare wire touching the tips of the trash can damage the wires or something?

    Thanks

The bottom head is very thin. Kind of like plastic wrap, but not that thin. If you hit the snare, those wires could pierce the head. I wouldn't do this unless it's a really cheap snare.

The only way of knowing is trying it. We call it trial and error. It works or it don't.

You could invert the trash can, so the opening is facing you, then support the snare with strings so it hangs over the hole.

You can also buy a used stand for 20$, or just use the trash can as your snare...
