    Default New 16" Evans Emad

My Evans Emad 16" bass drum head arrived today. I put it on my 16" floor tom and it sounds amazing. Very glad I spent the money on it. Now I am ready to find some musician's to jam with. Now I don't know which sounds better my 22" bass drum or my 16". Like playing on my 16" kit better than the 22".

    Keep drumming

Glad to hear it worked out! Now.....if you find some guys to jam with and end up playing a gig somewhere; if you install a 4" port hole in the reso head, DEAD CENTER, and stick a mic in it, you'll never need a bigger bass drum. At least for the small/medium bar room gigs.

ohhh.... still playing it as a tom but you put the EMAD on it?

That's a great idea... I should try that.
Sounds like a quick/cheap gong drum solution.
    Nice and beefy

It is possible to get a 16" FT to sound like a bass drum.
IMO, it is NOT possible to get a 16" FT to look like a bass drum.

He converted it to a bass drum for his Jungle kit.

Maybe try a Remo muffle ring. Only costs a few bucks. If you don't like it, you can throw it away and not tell anyone you actually tried one, LOL.

I'm curious to know what one would sound like on an actual floor tom...
