$200 is a pretty good price for 4 cymbals. I know Sabian b8s are probably the best entry level cymbals you can buy. I prefer them over zildjian zbt's new b8 hihats are $125 new. At least in Winnipeg.
I agree that it's a good price for the set of hats , 20" ride, 18" crash and 16" crash.
I would go with this and get what you want later little by little.
Gives you time to shop and compare prices.

Thanks guys, I'm getting them tomorrow morning before I go to work
Now I'm just wondering what is the difference between a normal crash and a thin crash lol
For entry cymbals, can't go wrong. B8's to me seem heavy. The thin crashes will probably just crash better. Not as clangy!
all the best...
B8's are a good start. For that price......get 'em.
B8's are a classic entry level.
I still have my original B8 crash and hi-hat from 28 years ago when I got my first kit.
Still use the hi-hats every day.
They've changed a lot. Kind of tinny metal pingy sounding. But for $200 it's a great deal.
I will tell you though that I have found some Sabian XS series sets for around $250-300 used online and I buy them up every time. I always look for the medium-thin version not the rock.
The thin B8's will have a little nicer cymbal sound as they won't be as thick and clanky.

thanks guys
I love Sabian B8 hats. I like some of the rides as well. Never cared for the crashes...except for the 16" B8 crashes that I converted to hats, LOL.

Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!
"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham
Gretsch USA & Zildjian(What Else Would I Ever Need ?)
They are a good starter set, however you can get used B8's much, much cheaper than that easily. $150 for the same set is common.
The hi-hats really are not bad, not a fan of the rest but they are entry-level. They are durible and if you are on a tight budget they will certainly work until you are able to upgrade.
As far as the crashes, a thin crash is thinner than the regular crash.
Oh come on everyone, they are crap. SAbian B8 series are junk cymbals; designed for complete newbies who don't know, or can't afford anything better.

This series show up a lot on backline kits I've had to play on at festivals . I don't care for them but I won't throw them out either . And just like a really good drum that's been deadened with POUNDS of duckt tape and then mixed to sound good ...you really can't tell the cymbals are B8's up front and not "Artisans" .
Yea ... nothing wrong with them really .
So how do you like them fred?
@eyepea, if they guy's budget is 200, then that is an amazing deal for all those cymbals. honestly, 200 for HH, crash and ride is really good. Not everyone can afford 300+ cymbals, and I dont think you help aspiring drummers by making them feel like their cymbals are crap...
For the price the cymbals are being purchased at; I agree...great price. But let's not kid ourselves that this range is good; they are not. Now that's what I've said. I'm not trying to shatter anyone's aspirations; but it was asked, and I answered... Sabian B8s are entry level rubbish. Great for beginners.

several have posted that Sabian B8's suffice better in the capacity of hi hats, than for crash or ride... I find that interesting, and wonder if there is some underlying metallurgical/acoustical justification --- ?
---
Last week I bought a Sabian hand-hammered B8 bronze triangle. A high-quality professional orchestral instrument ... not cheap, and not entry-level crap, whatsoever. The right alloy for the right job, is what it comes down too, I suppose.
