    Made a compact drum set this week,cut down 3 Tom's and the bass,I bought an old Rogers kit cheap at yard sale,I love the results,I had been thinking about doing this for several years ,

    Sounds good! When you think about it, most jazz drummers have small/compact drum kits and yet produce incredible results with them. It really is what you do with what you have.

    Easier to just buy a smaller set.

    Didn't jazz cats from the 50's use enormous sized drums? Like 26" kicks
