my drum teacher uses a evans dry, with a dampening ring. its super super dry, but im lookin for a more resonaty sound, open sound.
AQUARIAN SUPER 2s are a GREAT all purpose head
I had seen a Pork Pie snare set up at GC with an Evans Etched J1 batter and another Evans Hazy 300 for the snare side. Those two made an awesome collaboration of openness, resonation, and warmth. I thought it sounded awesome for the set, but it just wasn't my style of sound. I would highly reccomend it though.

...........I agree the J1 with a hazy 2 or 300....Just remember the shell material of your snare is gonna play a big role in the choice of heads.
coated ambassadors or coated g1.

coated ambassadors or emperors for the batter
ambassador snare side
and dont neglect the right snare wires
im goin coated 1 ply ambass's for toms and clear ambs for bottem. so mid as well go for the coated 1 ply ambass for snare. BTW im looking for a snare that will have a good hit even if you hit it very lightly and a snare that is sensitive to ghost notes. my reverse snare dot evans snare head aint doin that for me. probly because its for heavy hitters.. my snare barly makes a sound when i hit it lightly..
I use a Remo Pinstripe snare head. It works really well for snares with "fat" sounds.
But I don't know if I would recommend it for a "popcorn" snare.
