I could play traditional and maybe the pinky won't move too much.

    1. Throw a splint on it and try not to bang it into your snare.
    2. Ibuprofen for the pain
    3. Pre-gig beer can't hurt

How'd you do that ?! I use to work on a huge band saw and have cut myself the day of the gig as well . Playing with a bandage was not the problem for me ...setting up the drums and tearing them down was .
I hope you heal soon .

Good luck. You are going to have several challenges over the next month or two. I hope you heal real soon and completely.

Yikes! This reminds me of my very first band experience. We were doing a "Battle of the Bands" and 1st place was $500 cash and a free 'demo' at a local recording studio. Our lead guitar player nearly cut his left pinky off by doing some last minute grinding on his car's fender well the night before the "Battle". The grinder bound up on the lip of the fender and as a result forced his left pinky into the razor sharp jagged edge. As a trooper, he played with a huge bandaged splint but could not do any bar chords or leads. We came in last.

I hope you recover quick and good luck!

Put a flint on it do it doesn't move, drink some Jim Beam and play in the pocket all night.

    Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!

"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham

I wound up putting some superglue on it and wearing a latex glove just in case. Made it through the night without incident. Really wasn't a problem but I admit to playing it up for "hardcore" points with the band and sympathy from the ladies......

I use super grippy sticks so my hands are always torn up. I also once played a gig with a broken thumb. Everyone thought I was a badass until I told them I had broken it on my friends head.
