I have to change that based on the fact that I did use house kits when I went to late night jams in NYC back in the '70's.

Outside of battles of the bands back in the '60's, we never shared the stage with another band.

the hardware was kinda weak. light duty stuff. but workable.
Maybe the Gretsch was a Catalina? I had two gigs where I played a backline kit; a Gretsch Catalina and a Vintage Rogers with the butcher block finish. The heads were worn out on both kits but as others have posted, it was nice to walk away with just cymbals, pedals, snare and my throne.

The only regret on the Rogers kit were the rack tom mounts; a royal pain to set up.
