I have been practicing the drums for susie q by CCR now for a couple days and it is difficult, it seems, to play the kicks on the off beat.

    What I am wondering is:
is there a name for that style drums and,
what other songs are out there with that style?

If I recall, I think it's called a "back beat" when the kicks come in on the "ands" instead of the numbers...like one-AND-two-AND-three-AND-four-AND rather than ONE-and-TWO-and-THREE-and...FOUR...

If I'm wrong, there's someone here who'll set us straight...
keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!

the back beat is just the kick and snare neway i think...its just offbeat if that counts as a style. takes a while to get the feel of it but you should get it fine soon enough.good luck with it!

It's sometimes referred to as a motown beat or a beach beat as it's prevalent in those styles. "Sugar Pie Honey Bunch" comes to mind as one of the beach examples. For motown, ... "Ain't too proud to Beg" (chorus only).
