Awesome. I like how you put the darker color in the middle instead of the outside edges. Almost a reverse burst. I bet it will look even better assembled.

That's cool too, but I think I like the new one better. It "pops" more, IMO. And it's unique. So, how soft is Butternut? Like Poplar or Basswood?

Wow. Beautiful (and dark) grain patterns! That might make a nice hybrid with some straight grained Oak or something.
Maybe a birds eye Maple inlay around the center...
