Congrats! Happy for you. That is a great gig. Must have taken a lot of work to pull that off. Looking forward to the pics and vids.
I was just informed this morning that my band ROCK CANDY got the gig to open for Vince Neil (Motley Crue) this October at our state fair on Friday the 13th.
VN has been touring as the Vince Neil Band -- it is composed of VN and the members of Slaughter (including Zoltan Chaney).
They do a set of 90% Motley hits with a few covers of Zeppelin and Sabbath thrown in -- should be fun.
We are to provide an hour or so of music to "pump the crowd".
I've been working on this gig for months -- got a preliminary OK a few weeks ago -- and then had to wait on VN management to OK our appearance.
Now I have to figure out a set-list that will make the grade.
Here are a few pics of the stage -- my band is displayed here opening three years ago for 38 Special -- we all had a great time:

Here I am at sound check hitting the snare drum 100 times..............this is my old '77 vintage Gretsch kit...........you can see the drums of 38 Special on the riser behind me.

Here you can see the gig in action -- a big video screen on each side of the 50' by 50' stage.

Wow...that really has to sting for the former members that left.

"Too many crappy used drum stuff to list"
Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!
"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham
Thanks pocket -- we have an advantage because they have used us before -- they know what they are getting.
Thanks guys......................here is a vid of the band that opened for 38 Special.................we were a power trio and this was the first song of my first gig with these guys................

oh man, no pressure there. lol
Signature here
Pressure ?
A bit more, yes.
Like most gigs, the pressure is on just before you hit the stage but after you get through that first song, you glide through the set.
More risk; more reward.

We had a band rehearsal last night and it was the first opportunity I had to inform the members we were awarded this gig.
One of the veterans was super-excited and appreciative.................the other one was like, "OK, cool".
The two new guys must be in shock -- since joining this band, they have played only one live gig with us !
We have another club gig lined up exactly two weeks before this state fair opener................I hope that will help with the anxiety.
