HingeStix were basically designed as a learning device by Sam Ruttenberg to teach drummers to hold their drumsticks in the right manner. The sticks have adjustable plastic pads that help position the thumb/fingers to find the ideal fulcrum. The correct balance point is found each time the drummer picks up his sticks.
