From a drum standpoint... Alex Van Halen, Hot for Teacher and 7779311 from The Time
[I stole this idea from another message board I like.]
Name your favorite songs with great opening introductions.
I can think of many from YES and other prog bands..............but since this is a drummer's forum, I'll begin this discussion with a drummer creation:
On the album 90125, there is a song called CHANGES.
This song (like many on 90125) was brought in as a demo and originally created by Trevor Rabin.
During rehearsals, drummer Alan White created the fantastic opening passage and it was added before the recording sessions.

"Too many crappy used drum stuff to list"
Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!
"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham
Pffftttt Please, conversation should end after this one...1st one on this list that is truly a drums ONLY intro and most recognized of just about any song I can think of...
Ludwig Classic Maple 22x16,10x8,12x9,16x16

Sabian HHX Legacy
Decide whether this is love for the craft or simply an ego thing

/\ That is a great video.
I was a sound system roadie on tour with GFR in 1973.....................I'm trying not to gag.
I do like the intro, but the song is completely disgraceful (and yes, I did meet Sweet Connie).
Farner was a fun and normal guy -- Schacher never talked -- Brewer was a complete a$$.

I'm a blues/rock drummer at heart, so for me songs like Hey Joe, Couldn't Stand The Weather, After Midnight (1988 version), Good Day For The Blues, and Red House are some of my favorites.

Hawaii 5.0 Not the version I like the best. I remember a certain version where the intro of this was explosive.. Still it's cool to see Max Weinberg and the other guy rocking out on some concert toms! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aQSPivbWwuY I wonder if the old man ever sits in with his son's band "Slip knot"
